Each term, a number of schools are randomly selected to take part in the Active Lives Survey, with the aim of getting 100,000 children and young people in Years 1 to 11 to complete it each academic year. Children from years 1, 3 and 5 completed the survey at Wallington Primary Academy. Attached are the results of the survey, which shows the amount of physical activity they partake in daily and weekly.

It shows that children have a positive attitude towards physical activity, but are currently not active enough. It is a recommendation that children should be doing 30 minutes of physical activity at school (outside of P.E. lessons), and another 30 minutes at home daily! The majority of children are however, physically active for 60 minutes, 3 times per week (at school and home).   The active 60 is a recommendation from the Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines for levels of physical activity of children and young people.  Active Lives School Report_Amy Johnson Primary School (102988) 2017_18 (1)

Together, the school and parents need to increase this occurrence so that the children’s health and well-being continues to improve. We look forward to sharing ways to improve this in the future!

Thank you to the parents from year 1 who completed the survey and for the children for their participation.
