On Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st November, the children of Amber and Emerald classes took part in the Bikeability Programme.
Children were placed into small groups according to their ability, some improved their skills, whilst others learned to cycle independently for the first time!
Some comments included:
“I enjoyed riding a bike without stabilisers. It was so much fun riding a bike around the playground”.
“I enjoyed taking part in Bikeability. Now I can ride a bike easily and it was so much fun!”.
“I really enjoyed every part of Bikeability, especially riding around the cones”.
This programme was run by the Sustainable Transport Team from the Kingston & Sutton Shared Environment Service and all bikes and helmets were provided free of charge.
We hope that this will encourage the children to take part in the Levels 1 & 2 course which will be offered when they reach Year 5. This course will develop their skills and prepare them for cycling on the road.
For those who may be interested in either selling a bike or purchasing one at a lower cost, a second hand bike market will be taking place on Wednesday 28th November.
